Key-fob Know-how
Your Key to the Building: Using Your Fob
The first step is to visit the concierge to activate your fob. Once your fob is activated, it’s your "all-access pass" to the building. If you’ve never used a proximity fob before, there is a small timing trick to ensure the sensors read it correctly.
Additional or replacement fobs
Each suite will be provided with two fobs. Additional fobs can be purchased for $25. If you lose a fob, please tell management right away so they can deactivate it.
Where Your Fob Works
Your fob is programmed specifically for your needs. It will grant you access to:
- The Main Entrance: Your primary way into the building.
- Common Elements & Amenities: Any shared spaces like the gym, lounge, or terrace.
- Related Floors: The specific floors where amenities are located.
- Parking & Your Floor: Access to the parking garage and the specific residential floor where your suite is located.
Note: For security purposes, your fob will not allow you access to other residential floors that do not house an amenity or your own suite.
Accessing the Building & Elevator
- Main Entrance: Press your fob flatly against the black sensor pad for a second or two. The light will turn green, and the door will click open.
- In the Elevator: Hold the fob flatly against the sensor on the button panel for two or three seconds. Once it turns green, press your floor button.
Your Unit Door: Unlocking & Locking
Your suite door uses the same technology but requires a mechanical turn.
To Unlock:
- Press the fob flatly against the doorknob until the light turns green.
- Turn the knob to the right to unlock.
To Lock: - Hold the fob against the knob until it turns green.
- Turn the knob to the left until you hear the deadbolt engage.
The Five-Second Rule
This is the most important part of your suite security:
- The Lag Time: For the first five seconds after locking your door, the fob system is still active. If you turn the knob immediately, it will simply unlock again.
- The Test: Wait a full five seconds after you hear the bolt click. Then, turn the knob to confirm. If locked properly, the knob should rotate loosely without opening the door.
💡 Pro Tips for Fob Success
- Think 'hold,' not 'tap.' The system needs a moment to read the data.
- Interference: Avoid keeping your fob tucked behind credit cards in a wallet, as this can block the signal.
- Lost Fobs: If your fob is lost or stolen, notify the Concierge immediately so it can be deactivated for your security.
