🛠️ Know Your Suite: Circuit Breakers, Panels & Appliances
Taking care of your suite helps prevent unexpected service disruptions and keeps your home running efficiently. Use this quick guide to locate your electronic controls, manage your media connections, and handle basic appliance upkeep.

⚡ Your Circuit Breaker Panel
If an outlet suddenly stops working or a light goes out, you may have tripped a breaker.

• Locating the Panel: Your electrical breaker panel is housed inside a grey metal box, typically located on the wall behind your front entrance door or in the laundry closet.
• Resetting a Breaker: Open the metal door to view the switches. A tripped breaker will be snapped halfway between the ON and OFF positions. To reset it, push the switch completely to OFF, then flip it firmly back to ON.
• Do Not Overload: Avoid plugging multiple high-power appliances (like a microwave and a toaster) into the same outlet circuit at the same time to prevent future trips.

📡 The Media Panel
All of your home's incoming data lines connect through a centralized hub.

• Locating the Panel: The white plastic media panel is built flush into your wall, usually inside your primary hallway closet or laundry room.
• Router Storage: This is the designated spot where internet technicians install your fibre-optic modem.
• Keep It Clear: Avoid stacking boxes or hanging heavy winter coats directly against this panel. Blocking it can trap heat and significantly weaken your in-suite Wi-Fi signal.

🧼 Filters to Clean & Replace Regularly
While building management replaces your main heating filters annually, residents are responsible for basic everyday lint and grease filtration:

• Dryer Lint Screen: Clean the lint trap inside your clothes dryer before every single load. A clogged screen blocks airflow, increases your hydro bill, and poses a major fire hazard.
• Ceiling Dryer Vent Trap: If your suite features a secondary lint trap in the ceiling directly above your laundry machine, pull out the mesh cartridge and wipe it clean every 3 to 4 loads. Neglecting this secondary booster filter restricts the exhaust duct, leaves clothes damp, and strains the ventilation motor.
• Kitchen Range Hood: Remove the metal mesh filters from beneath your microwave or stove fan once a month. Soak them in hot, soapy water to dissolve grease buildup and maintain proper ventilation.
• Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV): If your suite features a wall-mounted HRV vents system, vacuum the small foam filters every three months to keep your air fresh and dust-free.

🧼 In-Suite Care: Cleaning Laminate Floors, Tubs & Fixtures
Using the correct cleaning methods preserves the finishes in your suite and protects your security deposit or property value. Many modern materials can be easily damaged by harsh chemicals, so follow these care guidelines to keep your surfaces looking brand new.

🪵 Proper Care for Laminate Flooring
Laminate floors are highly durable, but they have one major weakness: excessive moisture.

• Never Wet Mop: Water can easily seep into the seams between planks, causing the wood to swell, warp, and buckle permanently.
• Damp is Best: Use a microfibre mop that is only slightly damp to the touch.
• Approved Cleaners: Use a specialized laminate floor cleaner or a mixture of water and a few drops of dish soap. Avoid wax, oil-based soaps, or harsh detergents that leave a dull residue.
• Wipe Spills Immediately: If you spill water, juice, or pet bowls on the floor, dry the area completely with a towel right away.

🛁 Cleaning Your Bathtub & Acrylic Surrounds
Our bathtubs are made of smooth, non-porous acrylic materials that can easily scratch if cleaned with abrasive powders.

• No Gritty Powders: Never use abrasive scrubbing powders (like Comet or Ajax) or steel wool pads, as they will permanently scratch the glossy finish and make it trap dirt more easily.
• Soft Cloths Only: Use a soft sponge or microfibre cloth paired with a gentle liquid cleaner (such as Dawn dish soap or a specialized spray bathroom cleaner).
• Weekly Rinse: Spray down the tub walls after every few showers to prevent soap scum and hard water stains from hardening on the surface.

🚰 Caring for Chrome & Matte Black Fixtures
Your kitchen and bathroom faucets, showerheads, and towel bars feature delicate protective coatings.

• Avoid Harsh Acids: Do not use heavy chemical descalers, bleach, or acidic cleaners (like straight vinegar) on your fixtures, as they can chemically burn and strip away chrome or matte black finishes.
• Gentle Cleaning: Wipe fixtures down with warm water and a soft microfibre cloth. For stubborn water spots, a mild mixture of diluted dish soap works perfectly.
• Dry After Use: Buffing the fixtures dry with a clean microfibre cloth after cleaning will instantly restore their shine and prevent permanent water spot etching.
