Human Rights & Corporate Anti-Harassment Compliance
Overview
As a franchise owner, you are legally responsible for maintaining a workplace free from discrimination and harassment. Compliance with federal, state, and provincial labor laws is a non-negotiable requirement of your operating license.
Prohibited Conduct Framework
All franchise locations must strictly enforce a zero-tolerance policy regarding discrimination or harassment based on protected classes, including:
- Race, color, ancestry, or national origin
- Religious beliefs or practices
- Biological sex, gender identity, and sexual orientation
- Age, physical/mental disability, or pregnancy status
Mandatory Owner Mandates
To protect your corporate business entity from civil liability and compliance penalties, you must execute the following actions:
- Labor Law Posting: Mount the official corporate Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Human Rights posters in plain view inside the staff breakroom.
- Mandatory Training Tracking: Ensure every new hire completes the 1-hour anti-harassment digital training module within their first 14 days of employment. Log their completion certificates into your corporate portal.
- Accommodation Requirements: Review and document all employee requests for religious schedule modifications or medical workplace adjustments with your regional corporate HR representative before making a final determination.
Liability Alert: Failing to document compliance training or ignoring a reported hostile work environment puts your franchise license at immediate risk of termination.
